Floristic knowledge plays a very useful role not only from a cultural point of view but also from an applicative point of view for the control of parameters such as environmental biodiversity and liveability, which have been assumed for several years now as universal elements for evaluating territories.

Starting from these assumptions, after approximately 15 years of work, this complex work dedicated to the flora of Friuli Venezia Giulia has now come to completion which includes an updated list of the over 3000 vascular plants (Pteridophytes and Angiosperms) present in the region with the individual maps of distribution.

The strictly scientific text underlines that attention to the flora of one's territory does not end with the appreciation of spring blooms, but must be accompanied by awareness of its intrinsic value and the practical advantages ensured by its knowledge.
