Narmada, one of the most sacred and virgin rivers of India, originates at Amarakantak and meets the Arabian sea near Bharuch, Gurajat. To utilize its water, the Narmada valley development project has been implemented. The project includes many minor and major dams. The resulting water bodeis will affect biodiversity in the area. The study in this books concludes that 941 wild and naturalized plant species, which are listed here, are going to be affected by the project, including 49 threatened species.
