Flora Norvegica Radiographica. Norske planter i röntgen. 2020. illus. 274 p. gr8vo. Hardcover.- In Norwegian, with Latin nomenclature.
Nature is shrinking, but Norway still lies under a billowing blanket of green in summer. Even we who live in the cities are surrounded by plants; everywhere between asphalt and commercial buildings they make their way.
With this book, the authors want to show Norwegian flora in a new light, literally. The X-ray machine makes us see the diversity and fragile beauty of plants in a different way. They have selected 110 Norwegian plants, most of them everyday species such as dandelion and maple, but some are rare and may soon disappear from Norwegian nature. Each species is presented with X-ray images and a story about how it lives or what it has meant in medicine, folklore and literature.
Flora Norvegica Radiographica is the first attempt to present an entire country's plant life in X-ray. It is not a specialist book, but a celebration of the plants, a goody bag of pictures and text.
