From the preface: ... sufficient collecting has now been done inChiapas to suggest that a high percentage of the species of pteridophytes that occur have been collected (I estimate 95 percent).Altogether there are 99 genera of ferns known from the state, withpossible two more to be expected: five genera of fern allies are alsoknown. The total number of pteridophyte species known from the state is609 (563 ferns and 46 fern allies); this number includes three or fournaturalized species of ferns. - Standing orders invited.
