Plazza, Michele Antonio
Flora Sardoa. 2009. (Testi e studi di storia delle idee e della cultura, 235). VI, 400 p. gr8vo.- In Italian.
The 'Flora Sardoa', the work of the versatile Piedmontese college surgeon Michele Antonio Plazza (1720 - 1791), which has come down to us in manuscript form and of which this is the first complete transcription, is the oldest known text on systematic botany concerning the Sardinian plant world. It classifies over eight hundred species according to the taxonomy and methodology devised by Linnaeus, a feature that makes it unique amongst Italian floristic studies of the late 18th century.
