Werner Rothmaler (1908-1962) was a German botanist. In 1950 he published his first edition of the Exkursionsflora, a "Pflanzenbestimmungsbuch für Schulen und Hochschulen". From this later emerges Rothmaler's Exkursionsflora von Deutschland.
In the Dutch version, Steef Steeneken has, on the basis of the latest scientific insights, composed with great care a flora of the important vascular plants for the Netherlands. In addition to the common to very rare plants, drawings of extinct species are also included
