A diferencia de lo que ocurre con otras provincias vecinas, y no obstante la riqueza de su flora, Santa Fe carecía hasta el momento de una obra de conjunto referida a sus plantas nativas. En la presente contribución se plasma el esfuerzo de más de 20 arios detrabajo realizado por dos grupos de botánicos santafesinos: el de la Cátedra de Botánica Sistemática Agronómica de la Facultad de Ciencias Agrarias, de la Universidad Nacional del Litoral, y el de las cátedras de Botánica y Ecología de la Facultad de Ciencias Agrarias, de la Universidad Nacional de Rosario.
Unos 26.000 ejemplares de herbario correspondientes a la flora provincial, conservados entre ambas instituciones, constituyen la base de este trabajo. La relevancia de esta obra se aprecia en los 546 taxones citados por primera vez para la provincia.

A lo largo de este libro se realizan comentarios sobre la fitogeografía de Santa Fe y se incluyen claves para el reconocimiento de las Divisiones, Subdivisionesy Clases de la flora vascular de la provincia, y, para cada uno de estos grupos, las que permiten el reconocimiento de sus familias y
géneros. Se ofrece, además, un catálogo sistemático de las especies, un glosario de términos botánicos que permitirá aclarar la terminología empleada en las claves y las citas de la bibliografía consultada. Por último, se presentan tablas que sintetizan distintos aspectos relacionados con la
flora de la provincia.

Unlike what happens with other neighboring provinces, and despite the richness of its flora, until now, Santa Fe lacked a comprehensive work referring to its native plants.This contribution reflects the effort of more than 20 years of work carried out by two groups of Santa Fe botanists: that of the Chair of Systematic Agronomic Botany of the Faculty of Agrarian Sciences, of the National University of the Litoral, and that of the chairs of
Botany and Ecology of the Faculty of Agrarian Sciences, of the National University of Rosario.

Some 26,000 herbarium specimens corresponding to the provincial flora, preserved between Both institutions constitute the basis of this work. The relevance of this work is appreciated n the 546 taxa cited for the first time for the province. Throughout this book comments are made on the phytogeography of Santa Fe and include keys for the recognition of the Divisions, Subdivisions and Classes of the vascular flora of the
province, and, for each of these groups, those that allow the recognition of their families and genders. It also offers a systematic catalog of the species, a glossary of terms botanicals that will clarify the terminology used in the keys and citations of the bibliography consulted.
