Binding is weak. - The checklist includes the alphabetical treatment of1052 taxa under 177 genera from within the territorial limits of theIndian Republic. The valid names are in bold face while the synonyms andbasionyms where available, are in italics. Original citation is providedfor each binomial and only Hooker's Flora of British India is cited foreach species and in case of those species reported subsequent toHooker's Flora, the original literature reporting the species from Indiais cited. The data on distribution in India for each taxon is gatheredfrom literature as well as collections in various herbaria and is merelyaimed to indicate its probable range of distribution in the country. Thename of other countries/regions of distribution are also given.
