263 samples from 143 freshwater localities in Ireland collected in 1953 have been examined for their content of diatoms. 765 taxa have been recorded among which Eunotia arcuoides, E. bidentuloides, Navicula dicephala fo.cuneata and N.peterseni fo.undulata have been described as new. 757photos of 460 different taxa from the material are given in 48 plates.
