This book is a multidisciplinary synthesis of factual information andprinciples from which can be developed a deeper understanding of theprocesses by which wood becomes colonised and decayed by fungi and howthese processes may be studied, controlled and exploited. Whilst thebook is intended to be of value as a reference text, every effort isalso made to identify areas where knowledge or understanding arelimited, in the hope of providing an impetus for future research ordevelopment of concepts.
