In the first part, the authors aspects such as their morphology, biology or distribution that will allow us to acquire a global vision of them and will facilitate the use and understanding of the subsequent keys and descriptions. With the same keys of identification, it will be possible to determine the genera and species of orchids to be found in Galicia, which are described next. The plates of each species contain abundant information, including its description, differentiation from other similar orchids, habitat, distribution, flowering, pollination mechanisms and habitual pollinators, degree of protection etc. All this accompanied by maps of distribution by area and a complete selection of photographs, both general and detailed, which will facilitate the identification of the species. The glossary explains the scientific terminology that appears in the text and, finally, it includes some bibliographical references, as well as web pages where it will be possible to find more information on wild orchids of the Iberian Peninsula, Europe or other parts of the world.
