This work stems from a deep commitment to the interplay between science, community and the local environment. Through our academic work as teachers and researchers, we recognise the importance of preserving the ancestral knowledge that lives on in the collective memory of our communities, particularly in the hands and voices of the women who have always cared for their families using medicinal plants.

The plants featured in this guide are not merely botanical species: they are part of our cultural identity, of a living medicine that has been part of daily life for generations. Their traditional uses, phytochemical properties and botanical descriptions are presented here, organised with respect and scientific rigour.

Beyond its informative value, this book is a tribute to the women who, amidst their many roles as mothers, workers, carers and wise women, sustain the well-being of their homes through hard work, love and knowledge. To them, who heal from the earth, we dedicate this work with admiration and gratitude.
