El present treball té el seu origen en una antiga idea, que pretenia sintetitzar i reunir en una publicació els endemismes més representatius de la flora valenciana. Esta idea es va poder materialitzar gràcies a un projecte de recerca desenvolupat a l'Institut de Ciències Biològiques i Geològiques de la IVEI. En este projecte es descriuen les característiques taxonòmiques dels endemismes més destacats del País Valencià, fent dels mateixos una completa diagnosi, acompanyada de les dades biogeogràfics, ecològics i fitosociològics més rellevants.

Al present treball, es va considerar molt important el fet que cada planta vinguera acompanyada d'una iconografia científica, aprofitant l'experiència d'un dels autors en el camp del dibuix científic. Esta iconografia aporta un element més per a reconèixer el ram selecte de la flora valenciana i incrementar les magnífiques col·leccions existents d'iconografia botànica. Sens dubte creiem que ha estat un encert i els dibuixos que acompanyen el treball, tots ells originals, són un magnífic complement d'esta obra.

The present work has its origin in an old idea, which sought to synthesize and gather in a publication the most representative endemics of the Valencian flora. This idea was able to materialize thanks to a research project developed at the Institute of Biological and Geological Sciences of the IVEI. In this project, the taxonomic characteristics of the most outstanding endemics of the Valencian Country are described, making a complete diagnosis of them, accompanied by the most relevant biogeographical, ecological and phytosociological data.

In the present work, it was considered very important that each plant be accompanied by a scientific iconography, taking advantage of the experience of one of the authors in the field of scientific drawing. This iconography provides another element to recognize the select branch of the Valencian flora and increase the magnificent existing collections of botanical iconography. We undoubtedly believe that it has been a success and the drawings that accompany the work, all of them original, are a magnificent complement to this work.
