Myanmar is one of the Southeast Asian countries where biodiversity is very rich by having high endemism and high richness of species. Myanmar is well endowed with different ecosystems across the country such as tropical rainforest in southern part, topical savanna forest in central part and subtropical montane forest in northern part joined with Himalaya.
Myanmar orchid biodiversity is very rich but still needs to be explored further. There are 1040 species of Orchidaceae recorded from Myanmar in early 2020. But recent fieldwork discoveries and publications make the number of species increased more than before, resulting in 1079 species the total number of species currently known from Myanmar. In the field guide, there are color photos and brief information of 186 species in 77 genera of Orchidaceae known from Myanmar.
The species photos were taken during fieldwork in various ecosystems of Myanmar. The species information includes its description, habitat, local distribution and global distribution. The field guide will be useful for species identification and species conservation in Myanmar.
