After the publication of Bibliography of the Annonaceae and The generaand species of Annonaceae, it soon became evident that it would be veryuseful to have a complete list of all taxa, including literaturereference, typification, and current taxonomic status. For practicalreasons, however, the authors had to limit themselves to taxa from theNeotropics, although they hope that in due time the list can be expandedto encompass the whole family. The initial steps were taken by E.J.Simonis, then one of the authors' graduate students, who compiled agreat many data in a card catalogue. His important contribution to thework is duly acknowledged here. Next, the first and second authorsexpanded this list, and painstakingly checked and double-checked everyitem. The third author then supervised the typing of the whole on floppydisk, at the same time discovering many omissions, inconsistencies, etc.that had escaped attention earlier. Finally, the list was completed andworked up as per the end of December 1986, and was printed out in thepresent form. There are now about 1600 entries.
