Angiosperm diversity of Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park, South Andaman, India. Edited by Paramjit Singh and Suhansu Sekhar Dash. 2017. 49 col. pls. 1 col. map. 474 p. gr8vo. Hardcover.

The Andaman and Nicobar Archipelago is one of the three major phytogeographical regions of India, which is well-known for its tropical lowland rainforests (Nayar, 1997). The rare and unique flora that evolved through millions of years due to the physical isolation between the islands and also from the neighbouring continental landmasses is unique to these islands. About 40% of the angiospermous flora of this archipelago is extra-Indian and most of the species of this archipelago are poorly known taxonomically. There are four Marine National Parks in India (Rodgers & al., 2000), of which Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park (MGMNP) is the largest marine National Park in the country. The study is focused on the floristic inventorisation of the Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park in South Andaman.
