Readers will find to be an unconventional book, very different from other publications on identifying these plants. After a brief and simple explanation of how to make a herbarium, the book contains color plates of 193 trees, shrubs, and vines from Catalonia, mainly wild species, but also some cultivated and ornamental plants. The reproductions of the different plants represent herbarium sheets, always in actual size and with photographic quality; the images of the branches and leaves are often accompanied by the flowers and fruits, as well as enlarged details of the main distinguishing features. Each one has a label with the most relevant information about where it can be found. Various indexes allow the species to be located according to different entries. It is primarily a visual book. It is aimed at all those who have ever tried to identify a tree, shrub, or vine in the forest and have not been sure of their success.
