The present atlas is intended as a critical cytotaxonomical and chorological check-list of the vascular plants of Slovenia, which is the northernmost area of the Federation of former Yugoslavia. This region comprises a rich flora that is mainly Central European in its composition, although it also touches upon the Mediterranean at the northern part of the Adriatic Sea and includes the easternmost Alps and a small part of the Pannonian and Balkan floras. The information included will, thus, serve a much wider area than Slovenia, and besides be useful for its updating of previously available information with many new references.
