Furnishes the first comprehensive view of the mosses growing in various localities of the state. Floristic studies generally take into account the higher plants growing in an area which form dominant vegetation on the earth's surface. Cryptogamic flora has attracted comparatively less attention of the taxonomists. The bryophyta flora of Indian Sub-continent is very poorly studied except some important studies on the Himalayan region. The pioneer work on the mosses of Rajasthan is perhaps the first systematic study in the field of Bryophytes in Rajasthan which provides a key for the identification with taxonomic description, distribution and illustrations.
