SUMMARY: This monograph deals with the fungi of the order Pezizales (including Tuberales) occurring in Lithuania, provides information about the species diversity, form and structure, distribution, and ecology.
The monograph consists of two main parts - General and Systematic.
The General part provides a historical survey of the development of the studies of the Pezizales in the world and in Lithuania, deals with structure, biology, phylogeny, systematics and significance of the species of the order. Material and methods of the present study, distribution, ecology, and conservation of operculates in Lithuania are laid down here. Useful advises how to collect, examine, and identify the fungi are given.
The Systematic part of the book contains keys to, correct names of, concise synonymies for, descriptions and illustrations of, ecological and distribution data within and outside Lithuania of, and notes on the taxa of the Pezizales occurring in Lithuania. In principle all descriptions are based on observations referring to material from Lithuania. In cases where this material was not representative, data were taken from literature. Insufficiently known species are discussed as well. The references to selected descriptions and illustrations (Lit/il.) are given. The taxa (47 species) of which occurrence in Lithuania can be expected on account of their ecology and geographical distribution are included in the keys or in the notes.
Key to families, genera and species of Lithuanian Pezizales in English, references, glossary, abbreviations of terms and names of authors, an Indexes of Lithuanian and scientific (Latin) names of the taxa used in this book are also provided.
