Plant systematics has seen dramatic changes in the last decade,mainly due to application of molecular markers in phylogeneticreconstruction at the generic level and above. In contrast, species -level patterns and processes in plants are still less well understood,partly because of limited resolution of commonly used phylogeneticmarkers. This has hampered our understanding of the patterns and hence,processes of plant speciation.
