It is commonly recognized that there are more than 430 primula species In the world. Among them, 80 % spread in The Himalayan mountain ranges, Tibet, Assam, Yunnan, Sichuan and Myanmar regions. Especially Eastern Slnohlmalaya , between 25° to 300 N.latitude, 900 to 1000 E. longitude shows a dense concentration of more than 50%. It is most likely that Genus primula originated there and underwent primitive diversification. Genus primulas grow in the Northern Hemisphere with the exception of P.magellantca ,the only one South American specie. In this book, detailed explanations are offered with 7 divisions, Europe, West Asia, Himalaya, China, Japan, North America and Widespread areas respectively. In the European division,24 species focusing on P.vulgaris, P.veris, P.ealatior, the 3 major species, and in the Japanese division, 14 species including ancestral species of Sakuraso are brought to notice. In the Himalayan dlvision,P.sikkimensts bloom in mass against a background of steep cliffs and in the Chinese division, P.beesiana surrounded by a pastoral landscape of Yunnan Province are shown.
