From the preface: This account by Stephen Renvoize shows how rich areserve of diversity is represented by the native grasses of Bahia, thelargest of the states of northeastern Brasil. An intensive study of theBahian grasses has revealed the existence of many new species and evennew genera, in this economically important family. No clearerdemonstration could be desired of the necessity for careful taxonomicresearch in floristically-rich tropical regions as a prelude to theevaluation and consideration of genetic resources. - Good secondhand copy.
