Who new there are so many bluegrasses in Mexico? This monographic study of the Mexiccan species of the large (500 plus species),taxonomically complex, world - wide genus Poa revealed there were 23,including 2 new to science, and 2 previously unknown there. Two other narrow endemics were described only in the last 10 years. The Mexican species occur mainly in the mountains, especially in the alpine. Elevennatives are are globally rare, or rare in Mexico.
