The Boletes of China: Tylopilus s.l. 2022. illus (col.).. 364 p. gr8vo. Hardcover. - In English

This book introduces the Chinese boletes, including the history, ecological and economic values, as well as the geographical distribution patterns with a highlight on the Tylopilus species. Species in Tylopilus s.l. are not only of important ecological values but also of scientific interests. They are very diverse in morphology, complex in structure and wide in ecological niches. China is one of the diverse hotspots of boletes, and many boletes were traditionally treated as members of Tylopilus based on hymenophore or spore-print colour. The studies revealed that the traditionally defined Tylopilus is polyphyletic. This book aims to elucidate the phylogenetic relationships among the genera treated in Tylopilus s.l. previously; to delimit and recognize the taxa, and finally to reveal the diversity of the genera and species of Tylopilus s.l. in China.

China is a diversity hotspot for fungi of the Boletaceae family (boletes). Many boletes have been traditionally treated as members of the genus Tylopidus based on the color of the hymenophores or the spore prints. The aims of this book are to delimit and recognize the diversity both of the genera and species of Tylopilus s.l. in China. The morphological and multi locus phylogenetic studies reveal that the traditinally defined Tylopilus species cluster in 19 genera in Boletaceae, ineluding two new genera, viz. Abtylopilus Yan C. Li & Zhu L. Yang and Anthracopons Yan C. Li & Zhu L. Yang and 17 known genera, viz. Austroboletus (Cormer) Wolfe, Chiua Yan C. Li & Zhu L. Yang, Fistulinella Henn, Harrya Halling, Nuhn & Osmundson, Hymenoboletus Yan C. Li & Zhu L. Yang, Indoporus A. Parihar, K. Das, Hembrom & Vizzini, Lecinellum Bresinsky & Manfr. Binder, Mucilopilus Wolfe, Porphyrellus E-J. Gilbert, Pseudoaustroboletus YanC. Li & Zhu L. Yang. Retiboletus Manfr. Binder & Bresinsky, Royoungia Castellano, Trappe & Ma lajczuk, Sutorius Halling, Nuhn & NA. Fechner, Tylocinwm YanC. Li & Zhu L. Yang, Tylopilus P. Karst, Veloporphyelus L.D. Gomez & Singer, and Zangia Yan C. Li & Zhu L. Yang. A total of 19 genera and 105 species including 34 new species and four new combinations are documented and ilustrated in this monographic work.
