Cymbidium species have a long history of cultivation in China as ornamental flowers. The first monograph published on Cymbidium in China could be traced back as far as the 13th century. In 1999, there were 29 species recognized in Flora Reipublica Popularis Sinicae. Since then many new taxa were described. The present book is a taxonomic treatment of 49 Chinese species. Each taxon has a black - white drawing and several coloured photographs. Non-Chinese taxa have also been enumerated.
