The listing that makes up the bulk of the present study contains nearly 1500 entries, including 5 generic names, either described by Ellis, often with colleagues, or transferred by him from earlie rgeneric dispositions. Approximately two-thirds of the taxa have been studied by subsequent workers. The number of names is nearly equally divided between accepted species, often with a change to modern genera, and names that are redisposed in synonymy with earlier names. A listing of substrates and an index to generic names are also provided. (quoted from abstract)
