Williams, L.

The Useful Plants of Central America. 1981. (Ceiba, 24:1-4). 381 p. gr8vo. Paper bd.

The many species recorded here are a by-product of decades of work on the flora of Central America, in that notes were recorded by the author from fieldwork, from herbarium sheets, from conversations with people in the area, and from published floristic work. Plants are included which are the source of foods, beverages, spices, medicines, "tobaccos and true narcotics", fibers, tans and dyes, building materials, ornamentals, and weeds.

The text, in English, is organized by familie salphabetically; a brief characterization of the family is followed by the genera, also arranged alphabetically. Common names from the region are given for the species in addition to a description of the uses for the parts used. With index.
