The spring habitat: biota and sampling methods. 2007. (Monogr. del Museo Tridentino di Scienze Naturali,4). Many col. figs. 350 p. gr8vo. Hardcover.

The main threat to spings, as natural environments, is theirexploitation to obtain potable water or for other human uses. Thisanthropogenic pressure on springs is likely to increase in the nearfuture due to the decrease in precipitation caused by climate change, which is predicted for several regions including the south - easternAlps. In spite of this situation, spring habitats are still poorly ornot at all considered by European Directives, and national and localenvironmental legislation. The present volume discusses in this contextmethodologies to study springs, which can be seen as an importantand necessary premise for further study.
