The tropical Pacific is a very large geographical area, but themajority of the flora of one island, country or continent are common tomost of the others, as well as to all other tropical parts of the world.Many local names are identical from place to place, but some are calledby differing common names. In converting some of the local languages toEnglish, Thai for instance, phonetics were used to come as close aspossible to the local names. Some plants, shrubs or vines are indigenousto just one place ... the Silversword in Hawaii for instance. NewCaledonia in the South Pacific seems to have more flora found nowhereelse ... many still not even classified.
