Following the principles of the Braun - Blanquet approach a detailedinvestigation of the vegetation types of mountains in continentalWestern Greenland is presented. The vegetation types are analysedregarding their subdivision into subassociations, variants andelevation forms, as well as the prevailing environmental conditionsof their habitats. Special attention is paid to byrophytes and lichensas these play an important role in arctic plant communities andecosystems.
