24 species and 2 varieties of the genus Pyxine occur in Brazil. For them and some related species keys and descriptions are provided together with a discussion of their ecology and distribution. In anappendix P.africana Kalb and P.endocrocea Kalb from Africa are described as new, moreover there are some notes about extraneotropical species.From South America 7 taxa are described as new.
