Fourtyseven species of the genus Amanita Pers. from southwestern China were studied, described and illustrated in detail macroscopically and by light microscopy. Ecological data for them are also provided. Nine taxa are described as new. A modified system for the genus Amanita is suggested, which is mainly based on that of Corner & Bas(1962) and Bas (1969). Keys to the subgenera, the sections, and to the studied species of each section.
