Wildflowers of East Gippsland: A Guide to Native Flora Observed by Bairnsdale & District Field Naturlist Club. 2024. illus. (col.). 380 p. 4to. Hardcover.
This book is a guide to wildflowers native to the East Gippsland region specifically. It includes over 1500 species of trees, shrubs, vines, annuals, perennials, ground covers, aquatic and marine species and is an extremely valuable resource for all. Sadly in recent decades native vegetation has been threatened due to loss of habitat from logging, feral animals (particularly the increasing Sambar deer population) and drought as well as the ever present bushfire threat over the summer months. Sadly 32% of the species described are included on Victoria’s Threatened List.
To ensure this book is easy for all to understand, scientific terminology has been kept to a minimum and wildflowers are described using everyday language. A Glossary is included at the back of the book
