The study of pteridophytes spore morphology is an important branch o fpalynology. Since China is a vast country with different climates and diverse topography, the ferns and fern allies are very rich in species and in number, especially in tropical and subtropical regions. In this book the authors systematically describe the spore morphology of over 1000 species representing 175 genera and 52 families of Chinese ferns and fern allies in addition to the materials of fossil fern spores of some families. The illustrations include 119 figures of spore types, 89 plates of microphotographs of extant spores and 12 plates of fossil spores.
